Two Helicopters Collide While Landing Near Everest Base Camp; One Foreigner Killed Pheriche, Solukhumbu, #Nepal — November 3, 2026 Two helicopters collided while attempting to land at the Pheriche helipad in Nepal’s Everest region early Tuesday morning, killing one foreign passenger and injuring at least one other person. The aircraft, operated by Fishtail Air and Air Dynasty (also referred to as Dynasty Air), were approaching the high-altitude helipad in Ward 4 of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality when their rotor blades struck each other around 8:11–8:15 a.m. local time, according to police and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The deceased has been identified in several reports as an Indian national (named in some accounts as Vasanthkumar Balaramadu / Vasant Kumar Balaramaramadu, a tourist from Chennai). Another passenger — identified in some reports as a New Zealand citizen of Indian origin — was injured. At least one pilot is also reported to have sustained injuries. There was no fire after the collision. The injured were airlifted by another helicopter (including a Prabhu Air aircraft) to Lukla for initial treatment, with some later taken to hospitals in Kathmandu. Rescue teams reached the site quickly. CCTV and webcam footage of the incident has circulated widely, showing the two helicopters coming close during their landing approach before the rotors made contact. Authorities say the exact cause is under investigation. Pheriche is a key stop on the trek toward Everest Base Camp. Helicopters are frequently used in the region to ferry tourists, supplies, and medical evacuations because of the difficult terrain and limited road access.
